To achieve the bulk capacitance required for applications such as energy hold up and current pulse generation in some aerospace, defence and industrial systems, several manufacturers produce capacitor assemblies that incorporate discrete tantalum devices connected in parallel into a single ruggedized module.
This construction technique allows for capacitance values as high as 900,000µF to be achieved at voltages up to 125Vdc and even higher.
The majority of these modules utilise discrete high reliability wet tantalum capacitors; the KEMET series is an assembly of solid tantalum capacitors.
All are designed for high reliability and even mission critical applications within the aerospace, defence and industrial sectors.
The devices highlighted below are "standard" modules offered by manufacturers but custom designed parts are available across the range.
